I was just reminiscing about the cool stuff we did with the club. It would have been so cool if we could have kept the momentum going. Dammit, Steve.

Any of you fish-heads interested in restarting HMAC?

You should contact Randy at CFH, I know he wanted to start a similar club several months back. I don't know what came of it though.

We need one. There are too many benefits to having a reef club or two. Frag swaps, money saved from trading/selling and raffles, We should make this happen soon.

I'm pretty sure to consider your self a non-profit clue or group of any kind.. You have to have a assigned and voted elected officials and such.. Plus, bylaws wrote up with such. As far as all the clubs and different groups we sponsor out here.. Its that way..

What you are talking about is called a "Rank Icon/Image" They generally go by how many post a member has posted.. but you can modify it to have the club/group pic. On our forum we have both..
But, it wouldn't take only about 30 min of my time or less to get a little banner/Rank 125px × 34px.. That's the size we use on our community forum. They can also be 102x20 just depends on the forum Admin and how they want it.

Doing something like that legally requires you to be formally set up as a non-profit group, which includes having board members, president, etc. Things get tricky when you start taking money from people (without which it is hard to operate). It's not difficult, but it needs to be done right otherwise you can end up in hot water!

Speaking of banners, it's not a good idea to have an ad that states "specializing in SPS corals" on a Hawaii website... Even if you don't ship them here, it still looks bad; you're promoting something that's not legal. Saltwater aquariums are a very controversial issue here, since we have a couple wacko animal rights/snorkeling activists who cause a lot of trouble. Unfortunately the "get pumped" ad is perfect fodder for them to capitalize on.

The banners that trae is talking about is not the same as what you are referring to. trae is talking about "Rank Icon/Image". They are not banners.

But, you are referring to an advertizing banner which has nothing to do with what this thread is talking about. We will copy and past this issue that you have about our advertizement banner and post it under our company forum... We can discuss this over there.. See you over there... :thumbsup:

Call me crazy, but I heard of a forum in Hawaii that only has members with saltwater tanks. There is about 20 that post regularly and about 100 that just lurk.

They have sponsoring companies offering deals and discounts to members and even have a section for selling and trading.

If you are looking for "official", you have to follow suit with what potteri stated. Though is it worth for just a name? That is they decision that you guys have to make. You have everything else already. ;)
